Doublebase Emollient Shower Gel and Doublebase Emollient Wash Gel

Doublebase Emollient Shower Gel and Doublebase Emollient Wash Gel are designed to deliver emollient ingredients into the stratum corneum when gently applied to areas of dry skin. They are relatively non-greasy, despite their high oil content. The oily ingredients, isopropyl myristate and liquid paraffin, encourage rehydration and softening of dry skin by forming an occlusive barrier within the skin surface, which reduces drying resulting from evaporation of water diffusing from the underlying layers. Both products are suitable for use as a soap substitute owing to the presence of a non-ionic emulsifier (cetomacrogol)

Doublebase Gel

Doublebase Gel is a highly emollient and protective hydrating base. It may also be used as an adjunct to other topical treatments. The oily ingredients, isopropyl myristate and liquid paraffin, encourage rehydration and softening of dry skin by forming an occlusive barrier within the skin surface, thus reducing drying as a result of the evaporation of water diffusing from the underlying layers

Doublebase Once

Doublebase Once is a once daily, highly moisturising and protective emollient gel for the management of dry skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and ichthyosis. An advanced gel formulation, specially formulated to provide at least 24 hours’ hydration from one application. An effective, easy to apply alternative to ointments for patient convenience.

Dovobet Gel

Dovobet Gel

Contains calcipotriol and betamethasone. Calcipotriol helps to bring the rate of skin cell growth back to normal and betamethasone acts to reduce inflammation.

Dovobet Ointment

Calcipotriol is a vitamin D derivative. In vitro data suggest that it induces differentiation and suppresses proliferation of keratinocytes. This is the proposed basis for its effect in psoriasis

Drapolene

Drapolene contains benzalkonium chloride and cetrimide, which are both quaternary ammonium disinfectants with properties that are typical of cationic surfactants. This preparation is useful in the treatment and prevention of nappy rash. It suppresses the development of ammonia-producing organisms usually associated with this condition

Driclor

Driclor acts locally, in the stratum corneum and the terminal duct to relieve hyperhidrosis. Aluminium chloride hexahydrate is acidic and is thought to act by diffusing into the sweat ducts where on neutralisation it forms gelatinous hydroxides which obstruct the flow of sweat. The antiperspirant effect of aluminium chloride hexahydrate is partly explained by production of mechanical blockage in the eccrine sweat duct. Following application, aluminium is found in the stratum corneum and intra-luminally in the terminal duct

Dry Skin Balm

Dry Skin Balm

10% urea-based moisturiser with a modern carrier base. It absorbs easily to reduce callus and anhidrosis quickly and effectively. Free of parabens.

Duac Once Daily

Duac Once Daily gel has a combination of mild keratolytic and antibacterial properties that act against inflamed lesions of mild to moderate acne vulgaris. Benzoyl peroxide is mildly keratolytic, acting against comedones at all stages of their development. It is an oxidising agent with bactericidal activity against Propionibacterium acnes, the organism implicated in acne vulgaris. It is also sebostatic, counteracting the excessive sebum production associated with acne. Clindamycin is a lincosamide antibiotic with bacteriostatic action against Gram-positive aerobes and a wide range of anaerobic bacteria

Duofilm

Duofilm is a combination of lactic and salicylic acid. Lactic acid affects the keratinisation process, reducing hyperkeratosis, which is characteristic of warts. It is caustic, which leads to the destruction of the keratotic tissue of the wart and causative virus. Salicylic acid is keratolytic, facilitating desquamation by solubilising the intercellular cement in the stratum corneum
